A Year of Stories
Last updated October 20, 2026

What you are buying. One year of A Year of Stories for one storyteller: up to 52 questions by email, one a week on the day they choose (or at a slower pace they choose), transcription and light editing of every answer, a private page for the storyteller and a family page for you, and one 6 x 9 inch hardcover book printed and shipped after the last question. The price is the one shown when you order, paid once; it never renews.

The storyteller decides. Nothing is sent to the storyteller until they accept the invitation and agree to receive the questions. They can slow down, skip questions, correct chapters, or stop at any time. If they never accept, see the refund policy.

Their words stay theirs. The storyteller owns what they say and write. By taking part, they allow us to transcribe, edit for spelling and flow only, show the chapters on their private page and, if they choose to share as they go, on the buyer's family page and by email, and print them in the book. We never add a sentence, a fact or a name that is not in their answer. The buyer receives the book; copying it for family is fine.

If the storyteller dies or can no longer take part. Tell us and we stop the questions that day. If they had not yet said yes, the buyer gets a full refund. If they had, we print whatever has been recorded as their book at no extra cost, and keep the recordings for the family for as long as they want them.

The book. Printed to order from the storyteller's own words, so it cannot be returned for change of mind. If it arrives damaged or with an error we made, we reprint it free. See the refund policy for everything else.

Timing. The year runs from the first question. If answers stop for a long stretch we may ask whether to print what exists; we will not print without telling you first.

What we ask of you. Give the gift to someone who will welcome it, use the family page kindly, and do not upload photographs you do not have the right to share.

Limits. We take care with every recording and keep a second copy, but we are a small company; if something is lost despite that, our responsibility is limited to the price paid. These terms are governed by the laws of the state in which we are based, and nothing in them removes rights you have under your local consumer law.
